Hi, there, my friends call me warrybee.
So first of all welcome to Gozo!
Currently I work as a self-employed Teacher of English as a Foreign Language. and I also manage Dar tal-Kaptan Boutique Maison, together with Peter Muscat. I love both 'jobs' because the world comes to me and I enjoy hearing people's stories, finding out what makes them tick and sharing our worldviews.
I work in schools and with agencies on an ad-hoc basis, teach both General and Business English on Skype and privately in person. You can find out more about me in the 'about' section in my website www.myenglishprivatelesson.
In addition to teaching I regularly organise food themed events and am 'supposed' to be writing a novel set on Gozo.
Something about myself: I am passionate about food, history, trekking, travelling and film. I organise individual Raw food workshops on request and am a qualified masseur.
I believe we are here to create, experience and learn. In the past I have worked in Video Production, Disability, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Conservation, with the Civil Service, in Catering and Holistic Health. As you can see I like change and adapt well to new circumstances. I am sure we will find some common ground to talk about.
Right now I am addicted to the T.V. series 'Game of Thrones' and love any historical based movies/ series such as 'Rome' and 'The Borgias'. My all time fave film is the 'Pan's Labyrinth'. Music wise; Spottify is my best friend and I have an eclectic taste ranging from Jazz to world and Arabic music which seems to do something to my hips. My fave book is anything which I'm reading at the moment which right now happens to be 'At Home' by Bill Bryson.
Travel-wise, I have back-packed across Europe and India, walked the Camino di Santiago, done woofing, couch-surfing and volunteered in eco-villages and with various charities in India, but nowadays I tend to go for individualised unique B&B homestays and try to mix city and culture breaks with a week or more of trekking each year.
Regarding my style of hosting, you can see as little or as much of me as you like depending of course on my availability at the time, and on whether you book a room in my flat or if you book the flat in its entirety. I can teach you, take you on customised sightseeing trips and show you the real Gozo tourists often miss out on, guide you on trekking trips, we can prepare a meal together or I can give you a massage. Of course this is my job so there would be an additional fee for this. Friendship however is for free.
As for mottos: These would have to be 'live and let live' and Ghandi's 'be the change you want to see'.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
Rent an ensuite bedroom in this flat for a Gozo Homestays experience.
Situated on the 2nd floor of a quiet apartment building of four residential units, this Penthouse features two double bedrooms (one with en-suite shower and toilet, the other with a back balcony and views) and a separate bathroom. The hall way leads to a large kitchen, dining and living room having wall to wall windows opening onto a spacious patio, overlooking a valley with unobstructed country and sea views. Not being in the heart of the village ensures privacy.
During their stay guests can avail themselves of use of kitchen and living area, patio and bar-b-que, wifi, selection of DVDs and washing machine.

This listing is for double room with ensuite. The flat is on the second floor (no lift).
No smoking inside the rooms. No illicit substances. You can smoke on the back or front terrace. No non-paying guests sleeping over. No loud music after 11pm.
There is an organic health food shop a block up and a vibrant square surrounding the village church with the only pub in Gozo featuring live music each week and a selection of restaurants among them 'tad' Dutch' run, by yes a top notch female chef who created a dessert for me on the cuff last summer: a bourbon vanilla home-made ice-cream served with anisette liqueur and crushed fresh black pepper. Yummyliscious indeed.
Ta' Vestra (above) meanwhile makes delicious home- made Gozitan 'pizzas' filled with melted fresh goats cheese ('gbejniet) and roasted potatoes. Down the hill by the quayside, alight from the ferry and you find yourself in front of the best sea-food eateries on the isle. Veduta serves up a mouthwatering red snapper in an 'aquapazza' (crazy water) sauce. Atop, 'Gleneagles' a fisherman's haunt, is a local legend, concocting the best sundowners on the Islands. Sip the meanest Pimms in town, or a classic G&T on the terrace, just before you go back home.
The public bus stop is just a stone's throw from the flat and the ferry is less than 5 minutes away by car.
Bus 303, (on side of flat) takes you to Mgarr harbor, where the ferry is. The journey takes 9 minutes and is only two stops away. Buses are on the hour, begin at 5.46am and end at 22.46, Monday to Sunday. Conversely if you wish to go to Victoria the capital, then the bus journey takes 21 minutes approximately and passes through the villages of Nadur and Xewkija on the way. To catch this bus you should cross the road. Again, buses are on the hour, commence at 6.09am and terminate at 23.09, Monday to Sunday. Both bus stops are entitled ‘Biljun’.
