Dar tal-Kaptan Boutique Maison

Guesthouse Bed and Breakfast Accommodation on the beautiful island of Gozo          Gozo HomeStays

Dar tal-Kaptan Boutique Maison, Triq il-Fanal, Ghasri, GSR 1207, Gozo

It is advisable to hire a car, motorbike or bicycle on Gozo. We can arrange this for you. Alternatively you can arrange for a rental car pick-up from Malta airport. During the summer months it is near impossible to rent anything on Gozo without having booked at least two weeks in advance.

There is an hourly local public-bus service to Ghasri which will drop you off three minutes walk away from the guesthouse.

Another way to sightsee is by means of an efficient hop-on/off bus service that drops visitors off at various points of interest, dotted around the Island.

Get to us from the airport

A taxi between Ghasri and Mgarr normally costs 18 to 20 Euros. We might be able to pick you up ourselves for less money but this depends if we are available on the day.

A taxi from Malta Ferry Terminal to Luqa Airport and vice versa costs around 32 Euros.

To get from the airport to Ghasri and vice versa there are two options:

Option 1: Luqa Airport to Cirkewwa (Malta) Ferry Terminal and then Mgarr Ferry Terminal to Ghasri.  This will cost 40 Euros (for two people) and does not include cost of ferry ticket (4.65 Euros per person).

Option 2: (Direct Transfer) : Luqa Airport to Ghasri (your luggage stays in taxi, which will be with you on ferry too). This option costs 70 Euros (for a mini-van up to 8 people) and 65 euros for up to three people in a taxi.

We do not earn a commission on these rates which are the cheapest you will find.

You may also take a much longer but cheaper  shuttle bus service from the Ferry Terminal to Luqa Airport and vice versa This must be booked on www.maltatransfer.com tel no: 00356 21445165 and costs 10 Euros.

The public bus from the airport directly to Gozo ferry is 2 Euros and is 1 hour in duration. Should you have any difficulties, there is a tourist information desk at the airport terminal. The bus stop is just outside the airport. You pay on the bus. There is also a bus pass card, called 'Tal-linja Card’ which costs 21 euros and which you may use continuously for 5 days. This however will have to be purchased from a Malta Public Transport stand and not from the bus.

Location, location.....

Ghasri is a sleepy, peaceful, rural village located in the north-west of Gozo. The nucleus of the village radiates outwards around the main Church and piazza. Although it is the smallest village in the Maltese Islands with the least number of inhabitants, Ghasri has a mini-market, a police station, and its own local council. The closest restaurants are just a 5 minute drive away in nearby Gharb or Victoria. Dar tal-Kaptan enjoys panoramic country views from all rooms and a sea-view from the terrace of one of our bedrooms. A tranquil cove and pebble beach can be found at the end of a 20 minute scenic walk from our front door whilst the best sunset on the Island is to be experienced at the foot of Gozo's only lighthouse situated just a 10 minute walk away.

DIRECTIONS BY CAR

Upon exiting the ferry, follow directions to Victoria. Drive through Victoria onto the road towards Gharb. You will encounter an arch where you have to give priority to vehicles coming towards you.

Then drive along the aqueduct until you come to the first  roundabout with a statue of a woman on it.

Turn right and keep going straight until you come to the centre of Ghasri with the parish church on your left. Take a left on the left of the Parish Church and keep on following the signs to ‘Villagg tal-Fanal’.

Another long road. You will eventually find yourselves at a fork in the road. On the left a sign directs you towards Ta’ Pinu Church. Do NOT take that road.

On the right you will encounter another signpost to ‘Village tal-Fanal’. Take that road (it is a bit bumpy). We are located (on the right, red door) just opposite a garage and the beginning of the palm trees signposting the entrance to the complex ‘Villagg ta-Fanal’ on your left.

You may park any where in that street and not incur any parking fees.

DIRECTIONS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

You will need to catch a bus from the Gozo Ferry to Victoria, the terminus for all buses and then catch the bus from Victoria to Ghasri.

The Buses are hourly at 10 minutes to the hour.

The bus number from Victoria to Ghasri and vice-versa is number 308. The route is circular and hourly. The bus going from Ghasri to Victoria is less than 5 minutes walk from our guesthouse.
